At the core of our success is our own learning management tool, the ETC Action Plan, that enables parents to keep up to date with their child’s progress and communicate with us and their child’s tutor.

Personalised and Targeted Lessons – The ETC Action Plan

The ETC Action Plan spells out for our tutors what work the child is required to do in each lesson. The lessons are split into bite-size chunks to enable the child to move forward in small increments. With this method of teaching, a child sees results quickly, thus building confidence and creating enthusiasm to move forward. The lessons aim to eliminate possible weak areas while enhancing natural talent, creating enthusiasm for learning and building children’s confidence.

Each child works to his or her own set schedule and is therefore not competing with others. Children can also bring problems, which they may be having with their school work or with set homework, to their ETC class, thus providing them with immediate solutions. This helps to improve confidence in their school life in addition to aiding them with set work.

Engagement

We have a firm belief in praising a child’s work, (we use Open Badges to reward achievement) – this builds confidence and changes a child’s attitude to learning and studying. Our teaching method ensures children reach their potential and gain confidence, in turn providing parents with valuable peace of mind.

As each child works from their individual Action Plan, his or her progress is dictated only by his or her ability and initiative. A child’s individual Action Plan is not affected by a group or strict teaching agenda. This allows children to work at their own pace and achieve realistic goals.

Regular Assessments

We first provide the child with a full online assessment to assess where help may be needed, they take one to two hours to complete and are designed to thoroughly test a child’s ability and standards of achievement. Assessments (selected according to the child’s age) vary depending on what the child may be experiencing difficulty with and can include Mathematics, English, Reading and Spelling, or a combination of any of these elements.

11+ plus assessments will look at Verbal and Nonverbal reasoning as well as mathematics and English.

Each of the ETC Action Assessments are linked to the national curriculum. The results of these first assessments are fed into ETC ACTION (our bespoke diagnostic application) that help us create an ETC Lesson Action Plan – a personalised and targeted learning plan for each child.

Constant Feedback

Parents, teachers and children are able to communicate via the child’s Action Plan. Parents can monitor each lesson’s results and see what work will be set for the next lesson.

Each child receives continual feedback from their tutor as to their progress and short term goals. This step by step approach builds confidence and involves the child in their learning process.
